ATOMIC FORCE
the album is here!
On Sunday night the band and I played our first show at Union Pool in Brooklyn!
And I’ll admit, I was nervous the week before. Between getting merch finalized, practicing solo and with the band, and spreading the word about the event, I was really spreading myself thin.
I wrote down a goal in my last email that I wanted to sell out my album release show, and as the night drew closer, I almost regretted it. It was a long weekend, there were 3 or 4 other shows friends were playing that night, along with various nuptials and a much-hyped nor’easter bringing rain and wind to the tri-state area. How could I sell out this dang show?!
But I set my intentions with the band around a game of cards, that my goal for the night was to HAVE FUN! And that I did, posing for pics under the Atomic Force sign, becoming absolutely mesmerized by Beche’s precisely musical melodic spell-making, and tearing up as the crowd sang “keep that little flame alive” with the fine folks of Sweetbreads. Everywhere I turned there was a friend, a sweetie, a creative collaborator, or a friendly stranger, and I was truly overwhelmed by love and support for my music and this new project.
Then, at some point towards the end of Sweetbreads’ set, I squeezed to the back of the room to gather myself for my performance. As soon as I reached the merch table, Selena told me the show was sold out. I couldn’t believe it. I mean…I had really resigned myself to thinking it wouldn’t happen. But sure enough, I turned around to see my friend and his partner being told they could maybe get in if some people left before my set (huh?!) I don’t think I’ve ever had to turn someone away from my show.
Even if we hadn’t sold out, it would have been a beautiful night. I would be writing to you something about how it’s still worth setting goals even if you don’t achieve them and here are all the joys of the show and we’re looking to the next thing, etc. But yeah, it feels pretty good to know I accomplished that goal!!!
Now for the next goal, which was to hit 100 mailing listers by the end of the year! We are currently at 64, leaving 36 new members to fill those 100 waiting inboxes. As a part of reaching that 100, I have a plan! The album has 8 songs, so I plan to send 8 emails, each telling you a little more about one of the songs. These may be weekly or more than once a week, with the hope that you might connect more deeply with one or more of them <3 and please please please, do tell a friend about the album if you think they’d be into it!
